Two Brothers Contracting, Inc. (“TBC”) has a fleet of demolition equipment and mobile crushing units to process and size various materials including concrete, brick, block, masonry and soft rock. Our portable crushing services can make any size product down to ¾ inch. The crushed materials can then be utilized as backfill onsite saving the client money by not having to import or export materials. Of course, all of our crushing operations are done in a safe and compliant manner.
Prior to any crushing, the materials have to be sized in order to be loaded into the concrete crushing machines. Concrete and other aggregates are usually sized to 2 ft by 2 ft or less. Rebar needs to be cut / sized so as not to tear the crusher belts or bind up the machine. Any debris also needs to be removed. To size and process the materials, TBC utilizes its fleet of excavators equipped with various demolition attachments including hammers and pulverizers. Laborers with torches are also sometimes utilized to cut the rebar.
TBC has various impact crusher units including jaw and blow bar type machines. These crushing machines can be used individually or in tandem. To facilitate the stockpiling of the crushed materials, TBC utilizes radial stackers. A front end loader may also be used to assist with creating stockpiles. Crushed aggregate materials can be produced down to ¾ inch size. The crushed material can then be utilized as backfill onsite. The crushed materials can be compacted to the point of structural fill.
There are many advantages of crushing concrete onsite that include:
As per Portland Cement Association’s website – The LEED® Green Building Rating System recognizes recycled concrete in its point system. Credit 4 (Materials and Resources) states, “specify a minimum of 25 percent of building materials that contain in aggregate a minimum weighted average of 20 percent post-consumer recycled content material, OR, a minimum weighted average of 40 percent post-industrial recycled content material.” Using recycled aggregates instead of extracted aggregates would qualify as post-consumer. Because concrete is an assembly, its recycled content should be calculated as a percentage of recycled material on a mass basis.
Clients working with TBC can be confident that safety is first and foremost on all of our mobile crushing projects. All TBC employees have various OSHA safety training as well as job specific training. Site specific work and safety plans are prepared for each project. Daily tool box talks and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) are also completed. TBC is proud to have one of the best EMR in our industry which is currently a 0.79
